Newhaven College Presents, The Wizard of Oz
22 -24 April
When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage.
This much loved tale of friendship and adventure is proudly presented by the staff and students of Newhaven College, Philip Is.

A gaggle of farmyard characters join the naïve, but loveable, Ugly in his rites-of-passage journey from misrepresented duckling to elegant swan. Peril lies around every corner, usually in the shape of the ravenous Cat, but Ugly receives help from unlikely sources and wins through thanks to his sheer good-naturedness.

The play revolves around the lives of Peg and Cliff Small, an ordinary, suburban, middle aged couple who were once prize-winning ballroom dancers. This delightfully amusing and poignant play about marriage, happiness and the pursuit of the perfect foxtrot, features action interspersed with world class ballroom dancing by a younger couple, who represent not only Peg and Cliff in their glory days, but also the older couple’s idealised view of themselves.

Brand new songs, back-stage and life stories, but including the classics from their vast repertoire spanning 35 years, will be included in this final run.

Lior - Solo

This performance sees one of Australia’s most successful and respected singer/songwriters performing an intimate concert of songs drawn from his vast back catalogue of recordings.
Lior burst on to the Australian music scene in 2005 with his stunning debut album - ‘Autumn Flow’. Known for his dynamic and moving performances he is one of a rare breed of artists that has achieved a great degree of success and critical acclaim, whilst maintaining an independence and individuality in their craft.
Lior will also be premiering songs from ‘Animal in Hiding’ a new collaborative project with emerging singer/songwriter Domini Forster. These songs, rooted in personal storytelling, involve intricate guitar tapestries and textural arrangements. The project’s key focal point is the rich and synergetic blend of Lior and Domini’s voices in harmony, harking back to folk icons of the 60’s.
